One of the true highlights of our trip to Calgary was a visit to the new Public Library downtown. It opened this past November, and its architectural sophistication and community integration are equally extraordinary.

Great eating and drinking in Roanoke. There’s no limit to how far I’ll drive to get Neapolitan pizza now that I live in a town without any. Fortunato made the trip worth it. Big Lick Brewing Company was a worthy follow-up: a beautiful space and great brews. The saison was particularly exceptional. Of course I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to visit Ballast Point’s eastern brewery to get some sculpins straight from the source.
